🛡️ Spot a Fake — Anti-Scam Checklist

Print this page and keep it somewhere visible. Stay safe!

STOP and slow down when a message feels urgent

Scammers want you to panic. Real emergencies don’t come through email links.

CHECK the web address (URL) before clicking

Look for https://, correct spelling, and no trick characters (0 for O, 1 for l).

VERIFY through an official number or website

Find the real number on your card or the company’s actual website — don’t use links from the message.

NEVER send money or gift cards under pressure

No real company or government will demand gift cards, wire transfers, or crypto.

BE CAREFUL with emotional or shocking content

AI can create very realistic fake photos, videos, and voice messages. Verify before sharing.

TALK to someone you trust before acting

A quick conversation with a friend or family member can save you from a scam.

🆘 If you think you were targeted:

  1. 1.Stop all contact with the scammer
  2. 2.Call your bank immediately if money or info was shared
  3. 3.Change passwords on affected accounts
  4. 4.Report: reportfraud.ftc.gov (US) or antifraudcentre.ca (Canada)
  5. 5.Don’t feel ashamed — it can happen to anyone
